Power Flushing
Power flushing is a thorough cleaning process designed to remove sludge, rust, and other debris from your central heating system.
Over time, these contaminants can accumulate in radiators, pipes, and boilers, reducing efficiency and causing uneven heating. Power flushing uses a powerful pump to circulate a chemical cleaning solution through the system.
If your heating system is slow to warm up, has noisy radiators, or you’ve noticed increased energy bills, power flushing could be the solution. Contact us for advice and a free estimate.
Our Central Heating FAQ’s
See our frequently asked questions below.
Power flushing is a deep-cleaning process for your central heating system. It removes built-up sludge, rust, and debris that can block pipes and radiators, helping your system run more efficiently and prolonging its lifespan.
Common signs include cold spots on radiators, noisy pipes or boiler, slow heating, or dirty water when bleeding radiators. If your system is older or has been poorly maintained, it may also benefit from a flush.
A typical power flush takes between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the size and condition of your system. Larger or heavily contaminated systems may take longer.
While power flushing can solve many issues caused by sludge and blockages, it won’t fix mechanical faults like broken pumps, valves, or boiler problems. We’ll always carry out an assessment beforehand to recommend the best solution.
Generally, it’s recommended every 5–10 years, or when installing a new boiler to protect it from existing system debris. Some boiler warranties may also require a power flush during installation.
Yes, when carried out by a trained professional, power flushing is safe and effective. We use purpose built equipment and specialist chemicals to ensure a thorough clean without damaging your system.
